Grants

BESO provides a variety of school grants designed to improve the quality of education at local primary and high schools. Our goal is NOT to take over and change the system but rather to fill-in for needs that have not been adequately addressed by other governmental agencies. In the past, we have constructed classrooms, built kitchen and dining areas, paid for uniforms and sports equipment, sponsored educational field trips, furnished and maintained emergency first aid kits for all primary schools, repaired and replaced on-site teacher housing, and provided a multitude of paper, pencils, chalk and chalkboards and other school supplies.

All requests for school projects are considered on a need basis. To request a school grant we require the following:

A written request outlining the overall project, the community involved, the type of school and the approximate number of children directly affected by the request.
Written quotations for all materials required and related costs to complete the project. An explanation of who will be providing the labor (if labor is required).

The name of the Project Sponsor.

The Project Sponsor is a vital link between BESO and the school. They are responsible for overseeing the project, handling all money given by BESO, obtaining receipts for materials and reporting back to BESO when the project is completed. Basically, a Project Sponsor is the person(s) responsible for interacting with the school teachers, community members and BESO.

BESO is completely dependent on the generosity of financial donors and dedicated volunteers. Won't you help us to help the children of Bocas del Toro. Volunteer now to sponsor a school project. So little effort can impact so many children.
